Sustainability Pillars - Designed for Circularity

Driving our sustainability strategy through four strategic pillars

As a responsible supplier of printing consumables for the global packaging industry, we have established a sustainability vision: "To support packaging markets with responsibly built products and sustainable solutions designed for circular economies."

We understand that printers and brand owners are looking for guidance on key sustainability topics and we understand that printers in all parts of the world require inks that are safe and compliant to use.

At Flint Group Packaging Inks, we're committed to achieving circularity within the packaging markets through four strategic pillars that are key to successfully achieving the sustainability ambitions.

Our sustainability pillar focusing on Designing Inks for Circular Economies

Providing printers with ideas to enable circularity and to help with the effective collection and recycling of materials.

We are committed to achieving circularity within the packaging market. Our focus is on contributing to the development of recyclable packaging solutions with minimal waste creation.

There are a number of technologies that can support these efforts already in use today. Flint Group Packaging Inks is investing in innovation to move this issue forward faster. This includes working with advocacy groups like CEFLEX, as well as up-and-coming organisations such as the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR), and paper packaging associations like FEFCO. This collaboration is key to understanding the impact inks have on the recycling process. Because of these partners and their progress in specific areas, we are able to understand the chemistries necessary to achieve recycling goals.

To accommodate the needs of the recycling market, Flint Group has developed solvent-based inks for floatable OPP mono-web labels and for sinkable PET shrink sleeve labels that meet the criteria outlined by the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR). Our latest success is an ink range for solvent-based flexible packaging which has been certified for the CADEL DE-INKING process in Europe. Additionally, we have developed a wide range of barrier coatings that address the trend toward a reduction of materials in packaging.

Flint Group Packaging Inks is a core member of a collaborative initiative, CEFLEX, a European consortium of companies and associations representing the entire value chain of flexible packaging. We are happy to be involved in several work streams CEFLEX has defined to drive change.
