Flint Group confirms German Ink Ordinance compliance for its Solvent-Based Flexographic and Rotogravure Inks & Coatings

Flint Group confirms that its European-manufactured solvent-based flexographic and rotogravure inks and coatings for Flexible Packaging applications, are compliant with the compositional requirements of the 21st Regulation amending the German Consumer Goods Regulation, known as the German Printing Ink Regulation (GIO).

Flint Group advises converters striving for compliance that this bulletin covers its solvent-based flexographic and rotogravure inks and coatings designed for printing on the non-food contact side of food contact materials, as well as coatings intended for direct food contact..

Most products within the portfolio were already compliant; however, a significant review of raw material data and formulations have been carried out, and where necessary, formulations have been adjusted, or alternative products proposed, to meet the new requirements introduced by the GIO.

In accordance with EU regulations, the organisation placing the food contact material on the market should assess its suitability for the intended purpose, since they are ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance.
