Flint Group implements a global price increase for nitrocellulose-containing products

July 2025 – Due to persistent raw material cost increases, Flint Group will increase prices of all its products containing nitrocellulose. The increase will be effective from 1st August 2025, where contracts allow and will vary depending on nitrocellulose content.

Nitrocellulose (NC) is a key raw material used in the manufacture of solvent-based inks & coatings where it is used primarily as a binder. However, NC is also utilised extensively in the defence industry for the production of explosives and propellants. While NC grades vary, recent geopolitical tension and a renewed global focus on defence investment has rapidly increased demand for NC, leading to supply shortages and significant price increases.

Doug Aldred – Chief Commercial Officer, Flint Group notes, “Despite recent challenges, our primary focus is always to ensure the security of supply for our valued customers. Unfortunately, we are witnessing unprecedented raw material cost increases and further disruption to a supply chain which is already fragile. Our purchasing team is working tirelessly to ensure a stable supply of this key raw material.”
